For the switch user, accessing the essentially mouse-driven Windows environment appears to be a formidable task. Not any more. Introducing SAW, a program that enables Windows to be controlled by one or two switches, a trackerball or a headpointer. This remarkable program gives access to Windows with an effectiveness that is unparalleled amongst other keyboard emulators. SAW replaces the mouse and keyboard with a series of on-screen Selection Sets - arrangements of letters, words, symbols, numbers and shapes that can be automatically or manually scanned, item by item, and selected using switches. You can write, draw, move the cursor around the screen - SAW gives you the access power to all aspects of operation. One of the most powerful switch access products of its kind, SAW now features extended text acceleration and CD-ROM access. SAW Version 3.0 As many Windows-based topic, adventure and educational CDs are becoming available, we have developed some rather special new Selection Sets to give fast and flexible switch access to this new multimedia environment. There's three types of universal CD access sets to cater for all abilities, and several CD-specific sets for some of the more popular titles. We haven't rested on our laurels as far as word processing access goes, either. There are new sets for Write and Microsoft Word that feature smooth, invisible links with word listing, word prediction and abbreviation expansion facilities, accelerating the rate of text creation many times. We've made SAW DDE-aware, which means that we can integrate applications together seamlessly with the selection sets themselves. SAW 3 is an improved version of SAW compatible with Windows 95 and 3.1. Which SAW do I need? SAW now comes in two versions in one package. The popular Runtime version is ideal for users who require a ready-to-run and efficient switch accessing system with a minimum of fuss. The Designer version offers greater flexibility as new selection sets can be constructed, and existing ones tailored to suit the individual by altering the appearance, arrangement and function of each item. The Designer version incorporates a powerful scripting language that you use for creating and editing selection sets. Switches and Settings Along with a choice of four different selection and scanning methods, you can fine tune all the scanning time and delay settings. A variety of switch interface box pluged into the serial port or games port are supported, allowing you to connect one or two switches via standard 3.5mm jack sockets. If you need to connect an external speech synthesiser and only have one serial port, an box with an additional 9-pin D-type socket is available. SAW comes complete with Selection Sets which you can use to access any Windows program. Application-specific sets grant even speedier switch access.
