What makes OPTi
special is its control program. The display window can be sized and
positioned to suit the user quickly and easily by using the cursor keys
or by the mouse. As the display is re-sized the image may be further
magnified or reduced, its colours may be changed or its display mode
(positive, negative or greyscale) can be altered. All settings can be
stored for later recall. Five user-defined setups can be defined and
can be switched between quickly.
The image from the
mouse is displayed on the computer screen via the Zoomed Video PCMCIA
card which provides fast, real-time images from the camera. This is
because the Zoomed Video overlay card enables tohe image to be passed
directly to the computer's video adapter, bypassing the processor. Therefore
the display is extremely fast, does not suffer from jitter and is independant
of the processor speed. The display can be configured to suit individual
requirements in size, magnification, text colours and window arrangement.
It can be operated with screen magnification programs and screen readers
for additional visibility. The mouse-camera's integral x 2 zoom lens
and the resizable display window allow magnification to be continuously
adjusted from x 1.2 to x 22 on a typical 12 inch, 800 x 600 display.
The mouse-camera
has two buttons which in combination allow the user to configure three
functions for speedy access. Some of the possible functions include:
cycling through display modes; stored views and exposure levels; task-switching
from an application to OPTi and back again; powering-off the camera
to conserve battery life; and switching to full screen mode. Using these
buttons means that the user rarely has to stop and adjust the program
settings.
